‘A picture tells a thousand words’, or so we’re told. And yet we’re trying to describe the work of Tim Walker, celebrated English photographer whose images speak a language of their own. Our girls at Dahlia HQ are lucky enough to visit his exhibition “Story Teller” at the Somerset House earlier this month. Think balloons, goblins, pastel cats and a giant Shirley Temple playing hide and seek on the hill. His evocative fashion shots have delighted the readers of Vogue and many other magazines, month by month for over a decade.
The photographer personally made the selection for this exhibition and added films, collages and pages from his scrapbooks, giving a rare opportunity to see the process behind some of his iconic photos. The exhibition will run until 27th January 2013 and admission is free, but if you can’t make it to London to see it in the flesh, Thames & Hudson have published a ‘Story Teller by Tim Walker’ – a book including over 175 images, collages and snapshots, all taken from the photographer’s personal archives. We think this is the perfect gift for any fashion lover this Christmas.
