Dahlia Girls Trip: Lichtenstein Exhibition
Last week Bianca and I (Harriet) took a Dahlia Girl’s day out to the Lichtenstein Exhibition at the Tate Modern.
I decided to go for a Western look and wore
the Helena Cream Blouse with Contrast Lace Shoulder Detail (left).
Bianca added an edge to her oufit with our Marquis Jewelled Short Necklace (right).
The great thing about visiting the Tate is that there are plenty of other tourist attractions nearby. St Paul’s Cathedral still looked wonderful despite the freezing temperature!
Bianca got a little excited for the exhibition on the way over the Millennium Bridge…
Despite the cold weather, the museum was
still full of tourists and Londoners alike when we arrived. For those of you
who are unfamiliar, Roy Lichtenstein is
an artist known for his works based on comic strips and advertising imagery. If
this still doesn’t ring any bells, you might recognize his signature hand
painted Benday dots.
The exhibition was really interesting, and
I think people who aren’t particularly into art would enjoy it too. Here are a
couple of our favourites, although there were a lot more but we weren’t really
allowed to take photos inside the exhibition… sssh!
We had a lot of fun afterwards looking around the gift shop (any excuse to shop, right girls?!)
In the end we decided to buy a Lichtenstein beer and a postcard each… We finished the day the only way we knew how; a coffee and a muffin!
All in all I would definitely recommend visiting the Lichtenstein exhibition if you can. The exhibition is running until 27th May so you still have plenty of time to go. Tickets are £14.00 and I’d say you get more than your money’s worth. The exhibition is interesting for people of all ages and makes a wonderful day out! You can find more information here.
Have you been to any interesting exhibitions recently? The Bowie exhibition at the V&A is next on our list!
